Half our calls aren't "I lost my key" — they're "my car is doing something weird." Most of that weirdness has a known cause and a fix we can do at your driveway or parking spot. Find yours below, or just call (469) 444-9993 and describe it.
In your car
Your Ford won't go over 80 and the volume is capped (MyKey)
Fords and Lincolns have a teen-driver feature called MyKey: it limits top speed, caps the radio volume and chimes endlessly until seatbelts click. Useful — until the main 'admin' key gets lost and every key left behaves like a teen key, so the truck limits you, forever. The fix: we program a new admin key at your vehicle and clear the restrictions. One visit, and your F-150 stops treating you like a sixteen-year-old.
The key turns but the engine won't start
Classic sign of a key copied at a kiosk or hardware store: the metal matches, so it turns, but the car doesn't recognize it, so it won't run — or starts and dies a second later. We program the key to your car on site, and it starts like the original.
The key won't turn at all
First, try this: turn the steering wheel gently left and right while turning the key — a locked wheel jams the ignition more often than anything else. If that's not it, the key or the ignition is worn. Don't force it; a snapped key turns a small job into a bigger one. We cut a fresh key or repair the ignition at the car.
The key is stuck in the ignition
Check the shifter is fully in Park first — many cars hold the key hostage otherwise. If it still won't release, the cylinder is likely worn or jammed. Don't yank; call, and we'll free it and fix the cause on site.
The key snapped off in the lock or ignition
It happens to old, worn keys, usually on a cold morning or a stiff lock. We extract the broken piece without damaging the lock and cut you a fresh key — often from the two halves — in the same visit.
Security light flashing, engine cranks but won't fire
Very common on 2000s American cars — Saturns and Oldsmobiles are famous for it, but Chevys, Buicks and others do it too. The car thinks it's being stolen and shuts off the fuel. We figure out whether it's the key or the ignition and fix it at the car, before you replace parts that weren't broken.
'Key not detected' on a push-button car
Nine times out of ten it's the fob battery. Until you replace it, hold the fob right against the start button — most cars will still start. If a fresh battery doesn't cure it, the fob needs attention, and that's a curbside job for us.
At home
The new key copy goes in but won't turn
Duplicates of duplicates drift from the original until one day a copy doesn't work. We cut keys to the lock itself — or to factory spec — so the new key works like the first one did.
The deadbolt only locks when you lift or pull the door
That's not the lock — it's the door. Texas heat and settling shift doors in their frames until the bolt misses its hole. We realign the strike so the deadbolt glides in with one finger. It's a small, inexpensive fix that people live with for years longer than they should.
A key broke off in the front door
We extract the piece without drilling, and in most cases the lock survives just fine. If the key was your only copy, we cut a new one from the pieces.
The smart lock went dark
Dead batteries, a keypad that stopped responding, a lock that unlocks for the app but not the code — we service and replace smart locks, and we'll make sure you have a working backup key, which is the part everyone skips until the batteries die at 11 PM.
At your business
Someone who left still has a key
You don't need new locks — you need the locks rekeyed so the old keys die. One visit covers every door, with new keys handed only to the people you choose. For bigger teams, we set up master key systems so one key runs the building and staff keys open only their own doors.
The back door slams — or won't close behind people
A door closer out of adjustment either slams hard enough to rattle the glass or leaves the door drifting open, which is a security problem by closing time. We adjust or replace closers, panic bars and commercial hardware on site, around your business hours.
